Program Biography

David Ross is a historical flute soloist based in New York City. Since 2009, his career has focused exclusively on the performance of music on 18th- and 19th-century flutes and piccolos. His work encompasses solo, chamber, and orchestral performance. His 2026–27 season includes works by J. S. Bach, Charpentier, Buffardin, Handel, Mozart, Farrenc, and Beethoven.

David holds degrees in flute performance from the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague, Netherlands, where he studied with Wilbert Hazelzet, retired principal flutist of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra; the Juilliard School, where he studied with Sandra Miller; and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Joshua Smith, principal flutist of the Cleveland Orchestra.
